A charter planner, not a boat catalogue
Vara is a Sanskrit word for a choice made with care. It is how we plan every charter, chosen to suit you.
About Vara Yachting
Vara Yachting arranges private yacht charters to remote eastern Indonesia, for guests who want somewhere quiet, unhurried and away from the usual routes. We match each journey to the right yacht, crew and season, and look after the details from the first enquiry to the last anchorage.
What the name means
Vara is a Sanskrit word meaning a choice, something chosen with care. We kept the name simple because the idea is simple: the right yacht, on the right route, in the right month.
How we work
Vara plans private yacht charters. We work with vessel owners and crews to match each trip to the right boat, route and month, then handle the details between your first message and your last night aboard.
We are not tied to a single fleet, so the question we ask is which yacht suits your group and the season.
- Independent choice
- We recommend the yacht that fits the trip, including when it is not the most expensive one.
- Plain quotes
- Every quote lists what is included and what is extra, in writing.
- Honest about the sea
- We tell you when a month or route is a poor bet, and suggest a better one.
- Reachable on the trip
- You have a direct line to your planner for the whole charter.
Questions people ask first
Do you run fixed-date departures?
No. Every Vara charter is a private, whole-boat booking, so you choose the dates and the length of the trip.
Komodo or Raja Ampat?
Komodo is shorter, easier to reach and best from April to December. Raja Ampat is remote, best from October to April, and suits seven nights or more. Tell us your month and we will say which fits.
How far ahead should I book?
Peak periods fill first, especially July and August and the Christmas and New Year weeks. Starting six to nine months ahead gives the most choice. Shoulder months often work on shorter notice, so ask.
What does the rate include?
It depends on the yacht. Every quote lists the crew, meals, fuel, park fees, port charges and equipment as included or extra, so you can compare like with like.
How do payments work?
Usually a deposit to confirm the dates and the balance before departure. The exact schedule and the cancellation terms are set out in the charter agreement before you pay anything.
Can we bring children?
Most yachts welcome children, but some have age limits or open sides that suit older ones better. Give us the ages and we will shortlist accordingly.
What if the weather changes the route?
The captain makes the final call on safety, and the route adjusts around the weather. Your planner helps choose the best alternative.
Can you arrange flights, transfers and diving?
Yes, tell us what you would like handled. Domestic flights and airport transfers can be added to the plan. Diving is arranged with a qualified operator.
Tell us the month. We bring the options.
Tell us the month and the group. We reply with two or three yachts, a route and a written quote. You pay nothing until you choose.
